This page explains how to delete an account in Chewsy, the dating app for iPhone and Android from Chewsy LLC, and what happens to your information when you do.
In the app
Open Chewsy and go to Profile, then Settings, then Delete account. The app asks you once more before anything happens. When you confirm, deletion starts at once and you are signed out.
If you signed in with Apple, Apple asks you to confirm once more so that Chewsy can also revoke its Sign in with Apple authorization.
Without the app
Email appchewsy@gmail.com from the email address you sign in to Chewsy with, and ask for your account to be deleted. Chewsy may ask you to verify that the account is yours before deleting it.
What is deleted and what is kept
When an account is deleted, Chewsy deletes or deidentifies its information on the schedule below, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Account, profile, preferences, and profile photos: deleted, generally within 30 days.
- Matches, likes, messages, and other content: deleted, generally within 90 days. Messages already delivered may remain with the person who received them where needed to preserve that person's conversation, safety records, or legal rights.
- Backups: encrypted or access-restricted backup copies may persist for up to 180 additional days.
- Reports made about the account: kept for up to 2 years after deletion, with a one-way fingerprint of the account's sign-in email (not the email itself), so that a person removed or banned for safety reasons can be recognized if they return. A ban record holds only that fingerprint and lasts while the ban does.
- Support, moderation, and safety records: generally kept up to 3 years after resolution or account closure, longer where needed for a continuing ban, investigation, threat, dispute, or legal duty.
- Consent and rights-request records: generally kept 5 years.
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account.
